Aldine ISD Student’s Artwork Wins Elementary Class Champion at Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

The second grader’s piece heads to HLSR’s School Art Auction for a chance to bring home a BIG cash prize.

Young artist Ja’Varie Sparks-Thomas impressed Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo judges in January. They got to see his work during the District Student Rodeo Art Contest.

At the District event, Ja’Varie’s piece titled “Dinner? … I Dare You!” won a Gold medal in the Elementary division. This advanced him to the next level of the contest where he won Elementary Class Champion.

Ja’Varie’s artwork is now headed to the School Art Auction set for March 19. As the Elementary Class Champion, he’ll receive a guaranteed premium of $5,500. But there is a possibility for his piece to earn more at auction.

The HLSR will honor Ja’Varie, a student at Kujawa Elementary School, and all the winners of the School Art Contest from across the Houston area during an Awards Ceremony. It is set for March 11 at the NRG Center.

Congratulations Ja’Varie!
