Assistant Superintendents

Kaye DeWalt

Assistant Superintendent and General Counsel

M. Kaye DeWalt was named assistant superintendent and general counsel in April 2013 after serving as special counsel at the law firm of Littler Mendelson. She received her bachelor’s of science degree cum laude from Texas Southern University in 1980 and her Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law in 1984. She began her legal career in 1984 as an assistant university counsel at Howard University. In 1986, she became a trial attorney for the Houston District Office of the EEOC. In 1987, she became an assistant district attorney for Harris County. In 1992, she was appointed assistant school attorney and soon after became general counsel for the Houston Independent School District. In 2004, she went into private practice, and worked at the law firms of Epstein, Becker, Green, Wickliff & Hall and Adams and Reese before becoming special counsel at Littler Mendelson in 2008. Mrs. DeWalt has 29 years of experience in the field of law.
Tamika Alford-Stephens

Assistant Superintendent of Finance

Dr. Tamika Alford-Stephens was named Assistant Superintendent of Finance in October of 2016 after serving as the Executive Director of Finance. Dr. Alford-Stephens received her bachelor's degree in Business Management from Dillard University. She received her master's degree in Education Administration from Prairie View A&M University and her master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas. Dr. Alford-Stephens earned her doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Sam Houston State University. She is certified as a Mid-Management Administrator and as a Superintendent. Dr. Alford-Stephens has spent all 16 of her years in education with Aldine ISD and has served as a teacher, director and executive director.
Ken Knippel

Assistant Superintendent for Administration

Ken Knippel, assistant superintendent for administration, has 33 years of experience in education serving all of those years in Aldine ISD He began his career as a teacher and coach. Mr. Knippel served 7 years as an assistant principal at the middle and high school levels.

He also served as principal for 13 years at the elementary, intermediate, and high school levels. Mr. Knippel is a current member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.

Abel Garza

Assistant Superintendent of Community and Governmental Relations

Abel Garza, was named assistant superintendent of community and governmental relations in January of 2015 after serving as director of community engagement and partnerships. Garza received his bachelor’s degree in political science in 1994 from the University of Houston. In 2001, he received his master’s degree in public administration from Keller Graduate School of Management. He began his career as a community outreach/government affairs representative at the Metropolitan Transit Authority in 1998. In 2000, he moved to the State Senate Department to assume the role of legislative aide. In 2007, he moved to Devry University as director of community outreach. He transitioned to his current position in August of 2014 as director of community engagement and partnerships with Aldine ISD. Garza has 16 years of experience in the field of community outreach and governmental relations.
Sara Ptomey

Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction

Dr. Sara Ptomey was named assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction in February of 2015 after serving as executive director of curriculum and instruction. Dr. Ptomey received her bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1979 from Drexel University. She earned her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction in 1991 from the University of Houston and in 2006 she earned her Doctor of Educational Leadership from Sam Houston State University. Dr. Ptomey has 26 years of experience in the field of education and has spent 22 of those years with Aldine ISD. During her 22 years in Aldine, Dr. Ptomey has served as a teacher, program director and as an executive director.
Selina H. Chapa

Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources

Dr. Selina H. Chapa was named assistant superintendent of Human Resources in April of 2015 after serving as executive director of Human Resources. Dr. Chapa received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Texas A&I University, her master’s degree in Administration from Texas A&M International University, and her doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston. Dr. Chapa has served as an assistant principal, principal, and director of human resources. Prior to joining Aldine, she was a teacher and assistant principal at United Independent School District in Laredo, Texas. Dr. Chapa has 29 years of experience in the field of education with 19 of those years in Aldine Independent School District.
Rosalinda Rodriguez

Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Schools Region 1

Dr. Rosalinda Rodriguez serves as assistant superintendent for Elementary Schools Region 1 after serving as the Aldine Area Superintendent. Her title was changed in the spring of 2015. She was named area superintendent in June of 2005 after serving as principal at Keeble EC/Pre-K Center. Dr. Rodriguez received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Texas-Pan American, her master's degree in education from Stephen F. Austin State University and her doctorate degree in educational leadership from Sam Houston State University in 2002. She is certified as a mid-management administrator. Dr. Rodriguez has 21 years of experience in the field of education and she has spent 19 of those years in Aldine ISD.
Pat Leon-Wade

Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Schools Region 2

Pat Leon-Wade serves as assistant superintendent for Elementary Schools Region 2 after serving as the Nimitz Area Superintendent. Her title was changed in the spring of 2015. She was named area superintendent in July of 2007 after serving as principal at Harris Academy. Ms. Leon-Wade received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Florida State University and her master’s degree in guidance and counseling from Texas Southern University. She is certified as a mid-management administrator. Ms. Leon-Wade has served as a teacher, counselor, assistant principal and principal. In addition to serving as principal at Harris Academy, Ms. Leon-Wade also served as principal of Gray Elementary.
Janet Ray

Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Schools Region 3

Dr. Janet Ray was named Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Schools Region 3 in the spring of 2015. Dr. Ray previously served as Director of Strategic Planning and School Improvement. Dr. Ray received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Teaching of the Disadvantaged as well as her master’s degree in Elementary Education and Counseling Psychology from Ball State University. Dr. Ray earned her Doctor of Educational Leadership from Sam Houston State University and is certified as a Mid-Management Administrator and as a Superintendent. During her career, she has served as a teacher, an assistant principal, a principal and as a director. Dr. Ray has 33 years in the field of education with 17 of those years in Aldine ISD.
Ann Stockwell

Assistant Superintendent for Intermediate Schools

Ann Stockwell was named assistant superintendent for Intermediate Schools after serving as the MacArthur Area Superintendent. Her title was changed in the spring of 2015. She was named area superintendent in July of 2010. Mrs. Stockwell received her bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Thomas in 1979 and her master’s degree from Sam Houston State University in 1998. She is certified as a principal. During her educational career, Mrs. Stockwell has served as a teacher, counselor, assistant principal and principal. Mrs. Stockwell has 27 years of experience in the field of education and she has spent 23 of those years with Aldine ISD.
Mable Holt

Assistant Superintendent for Middle Schools

Mable Holt was named assistant superintendent for Middle Schools after serving as the Davis Area Superintendent. Her title was changed in the spring of 2015. She was named area superintendent in June of 2014. Ms. Holt received her bachelor’s degree in education and speech in 1977 from Sam Houston State University and her master’s degree in administration from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1984. She is mid-management certified. During her educational career, she has served as a teacher, coach, and assistant principal and principal. Prior to being named an area superintendent, Ms. Holt served as principal of Shotwell Middle School. Ms. Holt has 34 years of experience in the field of education and she has spent 24 of those years with Aldine ISD.
Todd Davis

Assistant Superintendent for High Schools

Dr. Todd Davis was named assistant superintendent for High Schools after serving as the Eisenhower/Carver Area Superintendent. His title was changed in the spring of 2015. He was named area superintendent in July 2008 after serving as principal of Aldine Middle School. Dr. Davis received his bachelor’s degree in education from Minnesota State University in 1992 and his master’s degree in educational administration from Sam Houston State University. He began his career in education with Aldine ISD in 1992 and was assigned to teach at Worsham Elementary School. In 2000, he was named principal of Stephens Elementary School and he served as principal of Aldine Middle School before being named the Magnet area superintendent. Dr. Davis has spent all 16 of his years in education with Aldine ISD.
